We are updating the lobbies of five buildings in this 1980s era office complex in Northwest Austin, beginning with Buildings 2 and 4. Our client wants to create an inviting transition from the street – a dramatic first impression upon entering each building. Our design solution for Buildings 2 and 4 will apply to all five lobbies. We are improving the overall flow of the lobby space, creating new collaboration spaces, and updating tired finishes. Visitors will no longer be confronted by large granite elements that create a disjointed first impression and disrupt traffic flow. We are introducing glass panels and wood to tone down the symphony of pink granite and provide visual relief. These design decisions will also serve to better integrate the existing atrium smoke exhaust system.
